Walking with Unshakeable Peace
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

How amazing it is that our Amazing Lord has given us the keys to living the abundant joyful, peaceful, and powerful life in His Word? Last week as I was reading this passage to my sweet kiddos, the Lord highlighted 3 steps in this passage to help us as Christ followers walk everyday with Unshakeable Peace! Wanna know what I shared with them? Okay, I'd love to share with you too!!
1. Pray--Yes I know as a Christian you have heard it a thousand times...pray about it...but honestly, I want to remind you that God does hear every single prayer, and as His beloved child, when you pray, it's like an atomic bomb goes off in the heavenlies. So the first step to destroy anything coming against your inherited gift of Shalom peace is to PRAY! Start off with praising and thanking God for who He is and what He has done in your life (big or small). And remember that He is right there with you. He is near.
2. Give--When you pray, picture all of the things you are lifting up to Him and GIVE them all to Him. Release them. Verse 6 says present, which I picture as you offer them to Him and then lay them down (and don't you dare try to pick them back up again!!).
3. Trust--Trusting God is the final step, but for me, I need to do it over and over again. We must walk in trusting God. Thinking on things that are true, like His living Word and not allowing things contrary to that into our eyes, ears or mind greatly help make trusting God easier. If you struggle with trusting God, spend some time reflecting with God on why? Maybe there's something in your life that's an idol. Maybe you haven't surrendered all...or maybe you did and then something creeped back in that took the #1 spot in your heart. And be careful what you watch and what you listen to. I can tell you that the enemy is prowling around like a roaring lion waiting for you to give him a foothold so that he can wreak havoc with his scheming lies. Bottom line: TRUST God.
And the beautiful promise that we can all claim as we do these 3 things as often as necessary it in verse 9:
"And the peace of God will be with you."
